Broken Back

POTF: Tell us some facts about Broken Back and how you started making music.

Jérôme; Hey ! I’m Broken Back, a 24 year-old singer and songwriter from Paris - France. Two years ago I “broke my back”. For 8 months I couldn’t walk a lot, couldn’t move a lot, couldn’t go to work.

That’s how, weak and exhausted, I just grabbed my guitar, started to write some songs to let this frustration go and escape from this body that was kind of my prison at that time…

But the funny part of this sad story is that actually I’ve never stopped!

I just cured myself with music and discovered I had the chance to keep daydreaming, eyes open wide, doing what I loved…

POTF: What was your biggest success or the most wonderful moment in your career so far?

Jérôme: Ahah, that’s a really cool question. Actually there are plenty of them. When I have a song in mind and turn it into a real and concrete track or when I have the opportunity to give birth to my lyrics once on stage. But the most beautiful moments, I confess, were always, when my drummer Sam and I, could feel the connection with people in the venue. When we felt that we managed to spread our feelings and emotions directly from the stage. For sure those were always pure and crazy moments…

POTF: Which musicians or bands have the most influence on you?

Jérôme:  I’ve listened a lot Cat Stevens, who’s, without any doubt one of my favourite artists by far! I’m also a big fan of Buena Vista Social Club, or Supertramp… More recently, I listened with great interest bands like Of Monster And Men and their amazing “Dirty Paws”, Jake Bugg (“Someone told me” is my favorite), Mumfords and Sons, Vincent James Mac Morrow, Beck, Passenger or Asaf Avidan

This may explain why I’m writing and producing Electro-Folk songs… “Folk” in the way I write and interpret the songs. And “Electro” in the way I produce them.

POTF: What are your plans for the future?

JérômeQuite a few things are coming! My first 4 tracks EP “Dear Misfortune Mother of Joy” will be out on the 23 of March 2015, and the first album should follow few months just after… I’ve also released 2 weeks ago our song “Riva”, in featuring with my friend “Klingande”. Some gigs are coming in France (At “Badaboum” in Paris, THU 19 MAR), or UK (Innocent Festival, SUN 24 MAY)…

POTF: Please finish us this sentence, "i am totally satisfied, when...

Jérôme: Ahah I’m never totally satisfied. That’s precisely what is beautiful with life.
